Each block in Frontly has customizable settings grouped into five main tabs: Core, Styles, Actions, Filters, and More. Below is a general overview of each tab and their respective functionalities:

Core

The Core tab's settings vary significantly based on the type of block selected.

Typically, settings here involve defining the primary functionality or data mapping for the block. For data blocks such as forms, tables, lists, kanban boards, calendars, timelines, and charts, you'll find specific fields related to data sources, labels, date configurations, grouping, and more.

These configurations are essential for ensuring your data blocks function precisely as intended.

Styles

The Styles tab offers an extensive range of visual customization options, allowing you to modify elements such as size, padding, margins, borders, background colors, layout positioning, and more. Adjusting these settings will immediately reflect on the page editor, providing real-time visual feedback.

Advanced users can utilize the CSS (Advanced) mode, providing even greater flexibility by manually writing CSS rules for complete design customization.

Actions

The Actions tab allows you to configure interactive behaviors when users engage with your blocks. Data blocks commonly have built-in interaction options, like displaying a "detail view" when a record is clicked. Other interactive blocks, such as buttons or icons, can trigger custom-defined actions upon user interaction.

Filters

Available exclusively for data-driven blocks, the Filters tab helps manage how your data is presented to users. Here, you can configure:

  • Hidden Filters: Define filters running silently in the background to display a specific subset of data automatically.

Proper filtering is crucial for clarity, relevance, and efficiency in any data visualization.

More

The More tab provides additional settings not covered by other categories. Primarily, this includes configuring the block’s visibility conditions, controlling when and to whom the block is visible within your app.

Exploring and utilizing these settings ensures optimal functionality, interaction, and visual appeal for each block in your Frontly app.
