We are excited to announce a new enhancement to our existing Cloudinary integration in Frontly. You can now integrate your own Cloudinary account directly to Frontly through an API key! This update gives you full control over your media assets, allowing you to manage and optimize them through your personal Cloudinary account seamlessly.

What is Cloudinary?

Cloudinary is a powerful cloud-based media management platform that allows you to upload, store, and manage user submitted media and documents. Your Frontly account is automatically integrated with Cloudinary with a 5 mb limit per upload, where you can access the contents from within your Assets page.

By integrating your own Cloudinary account with Frontly, you now have the capability to manage these assets outside of Frontly, while also having control of the upload parameters to manage them more effectively.

Explore this new integration and take full advantage of Cloudinary’s powerful media management tool!

Set Up

If you don't have a Cloudinary account, you can sign up for free here.

After creating your account, sign in and head over to your settings page. Click the 'API keys' tab and retrieve the value that comes after 'Cloud name'.

Enter this value into the 'Cloudinary Cloud Name' field in the 'Integrations Tab' of your Frontly settings.

Secondly, from within your Cloudinary account again, click into the 'Upload Presets' tab. This is where you can define some of the parameters of your users' uploads, though your account will come with a default preset too.

Retrieve the name of your preset from this page and enter it into the 'Cloudinary Preset' field just beneath where you initially entered the Cloudinary Cloud Name.

Important Note: Within each preset you enter into your Frontly account, be sure that you're setting the 'Signing Mode' field to 'Unsigned' otherwise your users may run into issues with uploading.

After connecting your 'Cloudinary Cloud Name' and 'Upload Presets' information, your Cloudinary account is now fully integrated with Frontly and ready to receive user-submitted media and documents seamlessly!

Accessing Your Cloudinary Assets

Once your setup is completed, uploaded assets moving forward will appear in your 'Assets' page under your 'Media Library'.

Assets can be organized into different folders, and can be set up to sync directly into these folders proactively through the preset settings. Therefore, it's possible to segment your uploads across your Frontly apps by setting a new 'Asset Folder' for each app by entering a different preset.
